Riverdale

Take the #1 train to the last stop, and you're in a completely different part of the Bronx. Riverdale is beautifully surrounded by nature. There are so many different places that make this place unique; Fieldston Historic street, Van Cortland park, Riverdale ave, Mosholu, and Johnson ave.
The first place I bring you is Van Cortland Park along Broadway, It makes me think of Natasha Bedingfield's "PocketFul of Sunshine."
"Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.
Take me away to better days
Take me away: A hiding place.
 There’s a place that I go
That nobody knows
Where the rivers flow
And I call it home
 And there’s no more lies.
In the darkness, there’s light.
And nobody cries. There’s only butterflies."
VISIT:
Van Cortlandt South & Broadway. Photo by Malcolm Pinckney.
Van Cortlandt Park, New York City's fourth largest park, comprises more than a thousand acres atop the ridges and valleys of the northwest Bronx, and its forests and trails are perfect for enjoying fall colors. The park is home to much history, including the country's first public golf course and the oldest house in the Bronx. And a public pool,

The park is home to different sports like: cricket, football, baseball, soccer, tennis, handball, basketball, track, lacrosse, and swimming.
Van Cortland House Museum

Merchant Jacobus Van Cortlandt began purchasing land in the Bronx in 1694. Gradually, he developed the property into a wheat plantation with extensive milling operations. Jacobus’ son Frederick inherited the estate and commissioned the present house in 1748. The House was built in the Georgian style out of native fieldstone, and its elegant interior speaks to the family’s wealth and refinement.

Experience New York City's easiest accessible golf course by NYC subway. Minutes from the 1 train, Van Cortlandt is the oldest municipal golf course in America. Many legendary patrons, which included Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Joe Louis, Willie Nelson, and Three Stooges, have played this historic golf course. With its wide tree-lined fairways, this NYC golf course is renowned for its long par 5’s.

Sample Sale mania

This week there are some great sample sales that you will fancy:
Pros: I went and let me just say that they have a great selection  of past season designs. There are a lot of styles to choose from. Sizes ranging from 2-12. Friendly staff that is there to help you find the perfect dress.
Cons: Be ready to undress in front of everyone. Tiny space, and with the crowds it's hard to get around. Be ready to fight for a garment. Lowest price on a dress is $400 which for LR is cheap, but like my friend said we're in a RECESSION  people!

Ultimate City Girls IV

Denise Huxtable from The Cosby Show
Looking back at old episodes, everything and everyone looks dated, except for Denise. Her quirkiness set her apart then and now; kind of hippie, kind of preppy but also kind of tomboyish and sporty at times. She wore things like palazzo pants with a man's tuxedo shirt and a tailored jacket over it all. She knew how to layer clothes and add masculine elements while looking sexy and feminine. She is an 80s and 90's style icon...
{Image and text from IMDB}
Denise Huxtable Kendall: Mum, Dad. I need your help.
Clair Hanks Huxtable: What's up?
Denise Huxtable Kendall: Theo. He is acting weird and he is ruining my project.
Dr. Heathcliff 'Cliff' Huxtable: Oh dear. How is he acting weird and ruining your project.
Denise Huxtable Kendall: He is trying to impress Susanne.
Clair Hanks Huxtable: What is he doing?
Denise Huxtable Kendall: He has changed his clothes, he cleans his room and now he is upstairs studying.
Dr. Heathcliff 'Cliff' Huxtable: Well. We'll see if we could get her to move in.

Denise was definitely my favorite Huxtable character, outspoken, original, and smart. Her style was like no one else.
One of a kind Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) strikes a pose.
